    Job Title: Doctor

    Doctor required for mining company in Marampa, Sierra Leone.

    ​

    Role purpose

    • Provision of primary, occupational health and emergency care to all employees and contractors, both expatriate and national, as required by the organisation.

    • Assist with medical evacuation of patients to relevant medical facilities

    • Provision of medical advice to project healthcare staff

    ​

    Accountabilities

    • Clinical management and oversightof the site medical centre and ensure delivery of quality medical care by providing supervision to the medical staff

    • Conducts review of patients as necessary.

    • Ensure comprehensive, accurate and concise medical records are maintained for patients including, an appropriate, signed, dated, and legible entry in the patient's medical record for every attendance upon a patient.

    • Contribute to quality patient care by participation in case planning, which includes appropriate pre-admission planning, in-hospital care and discharge planning.

    • Provide assistance with surgical procedures and outpatient clinic.

    • Supervises investigations, surgical treatment, medical treatment and discharge of patients.

    • Supervises the referral of patients.

    • Assist the Incident response Team with onsite medical training

    • Assist with international medical evacuations

    • Drafting of clinical policies and procedures

    • Assist with daily, weekly and monthly health related reports and statistics to Medical Director.

    • Ensure compliance and regular audit of all work areas and facilities under health and hygiene auspices.

    • Requisitioning, controlling and distributing of site specific medical equipment, consumables and medications.

    • Assist with implementation of preventative healthcare and wellness programmes

    • General Administrative tasks

    • Management of Workers Compensation and Return to work programs

    • Any other relevant tasks as required by the Medical Director from time to time

     

    ​SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

    • The Medical Doctor will require knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:

    • MBChB or equivalent (medical degree)

    • Registered as Independent Healthcare Practitioner with a recognised Health Professions Council/ Board

    • Minimum 1 year emergency medicine experience

    • Minimum 3 years clinical experience (Pre-hospitalcare/ Primary care / Emergency medicine / Occupational healthcare)

    • Diploma in Tropical Medicine

    • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)

    • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

    • Advanced Trauma Life Support

    • Must be in good health and fit to work in a remote site environment

    • Ability to manage confidential information

    • Good computer knowledge and administrative skills.

    • Good communication and interpersonal skills

    • Solid work ethic and able to work with limited supervision

    • Good time management and leadership skills

    • Diploma in Emergency Medicine and Occupational Healthcare would be advantageous

    • Previous experience in a mining and remote site environment would be advantageous

    • Instructor status in BLS would be advantageous
