Reports to: Delivery Team Lead

 

The President’s Delivery Team for the Recovery Priorities, established within the Office of the Chief of Staff, coordinates and drives delivery of the President’s top priorities for the nation’s recovery in the areas of: education, health, social protection, private sector development, water, energy and governance.

 

The Project Management Specialist, reporting to the Delivery Team Lead, will work in direct coordination with the MDA Delivery Teams supporting the delivery of the thirteen Key Result Areas and the fourteen District Delivery Teams.  The Project Management Specialist will support the Delivery Team Lead in ensuring effective coordination and utilization of the various teams and will play a leadership role in ensuring that the delivery system is supporting long-term capacity building and skills transfer within the various MDA and district structures.

 

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Support the effective coordination of the MDA and District Delivery Teams by designing and managing fit-to-purpose planning and reporting systems / tools for use within the Delivery Team.These to include:

    • Work planning and reporting tools for the MDA Teams;

    • Work planning and reporting tools for the District Delivery Teams;

    • Trackers related to planning and reporting deadlines.

  • On a daily basis, review action tracker produced by the Secretariat and ensure necessary support and follow up is provided to the responsible entities;

  • Provide problem-solving support to MDA and District Delivery Teams, particularly on items actioned in Delivery Forums;

  • Develop and oversee the capacity building efforts for the District and MDA Delivery Teams in the areas of planning and project management, ensuring that they have the necessary skills to utilise the Delivery Team tools and that the tools and systems are fit-to-purpose for the Teams;

  • Identify and advise on additions/improvements to the planning systems and tools used by the MDAs and Districts within the Delivery System, with an emphasis on ensuring long term sustainability;

  • In coordination with the Information Management and Quality Assurance Specialist, support the identification of areas requiring deep dive problem solving;

  • Support the Delivery Team Lead in determining the critical agenda items for weekly Delivery Forums;

  • Other tasks as assigned by the Chief of Staff and/or Delivery Team Lead to ensure the successful delivery of the Recovery Priorities’ initiatives.

 

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Engineering or Economics and at least seven years of experience in project management or related field; prior experience in performance management and delivery support is an advantage

  • Strategic thinker; Strong writing skills; Excellent analytical skills; Excellent presentation skills; Strong relationship management; Excellent problem solving skills; Proactive in decision making skills; Excellent project management skills.

  • Excellent computer skills and proven experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

  • Good understanding of political and governance issues.

  • Strong work ethic, team player, of strong character and high level of integrity.
