PROJECT BACKGROUND
In an effort address the impact of intense deforestation and tree and vegetation cover loss, compounded by the impact of climate change on the residents of Freetown and the Western Area Peninsula the #FreetownTheTreetownCampaign was launched in January 2020 as a core component of the Transform Freetown Agenda. The Mayor and the Freetown City Council (FCC) set the goal to increase tree and vegetation cover by 50% from 2018 levels by 2022. To get there, FCC has partnered with Western Rural District Council (WARD-C), central Government and critical civil society partners to plant and grow one million trees across the 13 Catchment areas of the Western Area Peninsula [Freetown and Western Area Rural District] over the 2020 and 2021 rainy seasons. EFA is supporting the Freetown City Council (FCC) to implement Phase one of the #FreetownTheTreetownCampaign.
THE ROLE:
The Project Director will provide overall oversight of tree planting and growing delivery, administrative and financial management and Partner coordination and results monitoring under the #FreetownThe TreetownCampaign Project.
- Deliverables

Ensure delivery of all tasks / intermediate results and outcomes, as well as, good management practice; administrative, financial, and technical compliance of Phase One of the #FreetownTheTreetownCampaign Project.

Ensure operationalization of Tree Tracking and Monitoring Platform, tree tracking processes and implementation of the monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning framework under the Project.

Lead Partner and Donor Coordination and Reporting.
TYPICAL BACKGROUND, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience
-
M.A. in International Development.
-
Minimum of 10 years of work experience in project management, ideally in the field of Emergency Response/ Disaster Risk Reduction / Environmental Protection and for Government / NGO / UN agency.

Experience with Partner and Donor Coordination and Fundraising.

Experience achieving results in political environments.
-
Experience with participatory action planning and community engagement.

Staff supervision experiences.
-
Experience monitoring projects and collecting analyzing relevant data.

Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
