JOB SUMMARY:
To manage and provide logistical support to the production, sales and stores activities to ensure timely delivery of raw materials to the plant, as well as delivering of products to external warehouses and sales outlets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Storage
-
Oversee the effective and efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of products and equipment
-
Keeping stock control system up to date and making sure inventories are accurate

Proper storage and handling of stock
Health & Safety
-
Responsible for championing and implementing Health & Safety in all warehouse activities
-
Visible safety leadership across the supply chain, to communicate and train the team transporters on all safety matters
-
To contribute fully, participate and attend safety toolbox talk
Transport and Shipment Management
-
Liaise with Sales Managers for the raising and execution of MDC's Shipment orders, loading and dispatching of such orders.
Planning & Performance Management
-
Implement all logistics strategic plan
-
Implement performance management systems and reporting( daily, weekly, monthly)
-
Cost control of sectional activities by monitoring movement of Company fuel and lubricant requisition and use , controlling of working hours, overtime and transport claims by subordinates.

Management of wooden pallets stock by liaising with Supply Chain Manager for the timely replenishment of pallets to eliminate out of stock situations and control of the distribution of wooden pallets to Sorting, Production, External Warehouse, and MDC’s
Warehouses Management

Implement safety in all warehouses including monthly safety audits

Manage warehouses to ensure safe and efficient loading for pickup customers

Ensure stock availability in all warehouses as per monthly sales plans

Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Operations Manager

Liaise with Sales Manager and Finished goods Warehouse Supervisor for timely Order fulfillment for Key account and Manual Distribution Centers (MDC’s) to minimize lost sale opportunities

Verify and endorse monthly Third Party transporter bills for carting of products to Manual Distribution Centers.

Preside in monthly meetings with Third Party Transporters to address issues of mutual interest.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
-
Solid hands-on practical experience with approx. 3 years experience at a Managerial level in an FMCG
-
A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management/Logistics.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of Logistics Management
-
Ability to take both a strategic and tactical view of the business.
-
An ability to manage 3rd party providers (contract staff and transporters)
-
Good interpersonal relations.
-
Good negotiation skills
-
Ability to analysis management data.
-
Team leadership skills.
-
Understanding of logistics and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
-
Management / leadership skills in motivating and developing people both inside and outside the organisation.

Customer care skills in developing partnerships with internal customers, and 3rd party providers.

Some broad cross-functional knowledge of business operations.

Ability to make detailed plans and make quick decisions in emergencies
