Job Title: Expeditor

Expeditor required for mining company in Marampa, Sierra Leone.

​

Role purpose

Assist with the expediting of all materials concerning Imports by Sea and Air.

​

Accountabilities

 

  • Find the best solution of freight forwarding for this material depending on the status of it i.e. critical, urgent, miscellaneous

  • Obtain relevant quotations for the above mode of transport & liaise with logistics team to plan transport methods

  • Liaise with the materials and freight vendors to co-ordinate collection and movement of the material

  • Receive and distribute the pre alert from the Vendor to the freight forwarder to either Freetown Port or Lungi International

  • Send pre alert, bill of lading and supplier invoices to procurement for GRN and MIRO updates onto ERP

  • Monitor all shipments daily via matrix

  • Update the share drive matrix daily, live updates available every hour

  • Keep management and internal customers updated daily or as needed regarding material and its current status

  • Monitor and liaise with airport and port customs regarding clearance of vessels and air freight shipments

  • Once clearance is received liaise with local vendors to collect the freight accordingly and dispatch to site

  • When material arrives on site liaise with the warehouse supervisor and line manager to distribute to various sites

  • Ensure the matrix is updated accordingly, with received dates, times and destination

  • Update ERP with POD (Proof of delivery) status

  • Provide guidance and training to Expeditor's Assistants and other colleagues

  • Ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, objectives and regulations and the commitment to achieving Zero Harm through safe behaviours

  • Ensure compliance with relevant HR policies, procedures, objectives and regulations through appropriate behaviours

 

​KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

The role will require knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:

 

Knowledge/Education:

  • The position assumes a strong expediting and freight forwarding back ground

  • SL Mining logistics services and practices

  • SL Mining procurement services and practices

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office

  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (SAP)

 

 Skills:

  • Capable to plan and coordinate multiple projects to meet work schedules.

  • Ability to demonstrate and apply supply evaluation principles and techniques.

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment.

  • Customer service focus and orientation.

  • Negotiation and influencing skills.

  • Proactivity.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Very good numerical skills.

  • High moral principles of integrity and ethics.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines

 

Experience:

  • Preferably 5 years' relevant experience.

  • Broad experience and proven skills in purchasing, inventory control, warehousing and logistics in remote locations.

  • Exposure to multi-national, ethnic and cultural environments.

  • Working supervisory experience in a developing country.

  • Strong supervisory background.

  • Experience in mining industry.
