Job Summary
-
To provide financial information consistent with the policies and timetables of the hotel
-
To ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
-
To oversee the procurement function and ensure value for money for all spend
-
To set and maintain internal financial systems, procedures, controls and review processes across all departments of the hotel
​
Key duties and responsibilities
​
Operations Support
• To liaise with Operations to understand and interpret management information to pro-actively support business activity
• To form effective working relationships between Finance and other areas of the business
• Work with the management team to identify and implement cost and sales initiatives
• To continually review suppliers, ensuring the best price is paid through a tender process
• To participate in an operational duty management rota as required
Accounting
• To coordinate the preparation of the annual financial budget by department
To manage the production of key management accounts, board reports and variance analysis of performance against the annual budget
• Prepare Debtors and Creditors Report on a weekly basis
• Prepare Bank and Cash Reconciliation
• Review the Accounts Receivable (A/R) ageing reports on a daily basis
• Ensure cash flows and working capital are adequate to allow business units to operate effectively
• Maintain banking relationships and negotiate merchant services
• Maintain files of all contracts, insurance policies, tax reports, expenses, payroll, etc.
Train accounts staff in the use of accounting software
• Approve all Travel Agent commissions and release payments after verification
• Prepare statutory financial reports and submissions to relevant government entities
• Monitor and maintain all property inventories and a fixed asset register
• Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and that any material concerns are highlighted
• Audit and ensure compliance with all company security, including safe control and cash handling of floats and banking
• Manage the archiving of material and records in line with legal and company obligations
• Ensure the company's credit policy both in terms of granting of credit and collection of debt is in place and is adhered to throughout the hotel
Work with the external auditor to prepare the annual financial statement of accounts

Qualifications required:
​
Professional qualification in accounting e.g. ACCA, CIMA; part qualified will be considered depending on experience
At least 5 years post qualification experience in managing financial systems within the hospitality industry
​
