A new bakery operating in the east of Freetown, Sierra Leone is hiring an Assistant Kitchen Chef with the following responsibilities:

  • Assist with food preparation and services

  • Properly use and clean kitchen areas and equipment

  • Unload and stocks deliveries

  • Follow all food handling procedures as directed

  • Light cooking (heating, stirring, cold food) when directed

  • Report all inventory and supplier issues to supervisor

  • Address company dress code while on duty


Key Qualifications and Competencies

  • Certification in culinary art

  • Able to stand for long periods of time

  • Able to work unsupervised

  • Able to prioritize and work in fast-paced environment

  • Able to follow direction and work in team environment

  • Willing and able to work varying shifts

  • Understanding of restaurants and coffee operational procedures

  • Knowledge of cooking techniques and methods

  • Ability to use key kitchen equipment, e.g. stove tops, meat slicers etc.

  • Ability to debone meat, wash, peel and cut vegetables, and prepare a wide range of ingredients

  • Knowledge of hygiene and safety standards regarding food preparation and storage

  • Ability to handle a number of tasks simultaneously
